Nintendo Wii getting Netflix streaming this spring

Netflix is continuing on its quest for omnipresence by sliding its way onto Nintendo's oh-so-cute Wii console later this year. According to the Associated Press, the service will work much like it does on the PS3 in that you'll need to insert a special disc into the console before you can do any streaming. It will be interesting how much of a difference in quality there is between the high-def sources and Nintendo's little, white standard def machine.

The Wii joins a long list of devices that have recently gotten the nod from the big red movie provider. But, the more devices the better, especially now that Netflix really seems to be concentrating on their streaming business. Just last week they struck a deal with Warner Bros. that will delay the rental of their new releases by 28-days on DVD and Blu-ray. The trade-off is more content for the streaming service. - Stan Horaczek
