Netflix 4K Now Available on Dish’s Hopper 3 DVR

Dish announced today that the Netflix catalog of 4K Ultra HD (UHD) TV shows and movies is now available on its Hopper 3 DVR, which decodes and outputs native 4K at 60 frames per second with 10-bit color.

Shows available in UHD include the Netflix originals Daredevil and House of Cards, which join a slate of 4K programming from Sony, The Orchard, and Mance Media.

Netflix plans to offer more than 600 hours of UHD content by the end of the year, according to Vivek Khemka, DISH executive vice president and CTO, who added: “We’re making every effort to provide our Hopper 3 customers with additional access to 4K programming as it’s made available.”

A subscription to Netflix’s $11.99 per month plan is required to access 4K titles on Channel 370 in the Dish program guide or through the Hopper 3’s Netflix app. Once in the app, UHD titles can be located by searching for “4K” or “UHD,” Dish said. Netflix recommends an Internet connection speed of at least 25 megabits per second to stream UHD titles.
