James Unveils Unique Modular Home Theater

The speaker specialists at Napa, CA-based James Loudspeaker have come up with an innovative way to deliver surround sound to any environment in a high-performance, fully custom freestanding form factor.

The Modular Indoor/Outdoor Theater is a built-to-size marine-grade aluminum structure designed to be assembled on site or assembled/disassembled within an existing room to deliver “the ultimate theater experience without leaving a single mark on any wall, floor, or ceiling.”

Featuring a compact, sealed-beam construction, the structure can be configured to of accommodate the required speakers for any surround-sound format—Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro-3D, or a conventional 5.1 or 7.1 layout—and is compatible with an array of subwoofer options, depending on décor and acoustic requirements.

“Conceived as a fully customizable free-standing solution, the Modular Indoor/Outdoor Theater is capable of delivering superb cinematic performance to an existing room without the need for any modifications to the space,” the company explained in a press release. The powder-coated aluminum structure is said to be ideally suited for use outdoors and can be mated with an array of landscape subwoofer options, including subterranean models for a discreet visual presentation.

Each package is custom configured and can be ordered in one of 15 standard colors or a custom color for an additional charge. Source components and amplification are sold separately. Pricing starts at $60,000.
