An explosive action tale of betrayal and revenge, "The Losers" centers around the members of an elite Special Forces unit sent to the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. But the team - Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar - soon find that they have become the target of a deadly double cross, instigated from the inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Making good use of the fact that they are now presumed dead, the group goes deeply undercover in a dangerous plot to clear their names and even the score with Max. They are joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda, who is more than capable of scoring a few points of her own. Working together, when they're not arguing amongst themselves, they have to stay one step ahead of the globetrotting Max - a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war for his own benefit. If they can take down Max and save the world at the same time, it'll be a win/win for the team now known as "The Losers".

This one is adapted from a graphic novel and plays out heavily like a comic adaptation. The story is very streamlined and lacks the emotional weight of a serious action film. But there is plenty of style here and a great cast to back it up. The humor is pitch perfect for this type of film but there is no doubt that there is a bit of style over substance going on most of the time.

With style like this you better have a great looking Blu-ray and this one delivers just that. Solid detail, dimension and contrast make for a wild visual ride. You can’t deny that there are a lot of Michael Bay money shots here with rich filtered colors and plenty of fast editing and strong contrast. The soundtrack also delivers the good with deep bass and plenty of spatial cues. The surround soundstage is lit up nearly the entire film and action junkies will definitely get their gunfire fix.

Extras include a DVD edition and digital copy edition of the film on a separate disc. You also get a look at the casts transition into their roles, the backstory on the graphic novel and some deleted scenes.

While it isn’t delivering anything new or substantial, The Losers is still a fun ride with great action highlights and some truly funny moments. Recommended.
