The Bounty Hunter—Columbia Pictures (Blu-ray)

Movie: 2.5
Picture/Sound: 4.5/4
Extras: 2

Milo Boyd, a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly. He thinks all that's ahead is an easy payday, but when Nicole gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole. The exes continually one-up each other - until they find themselves on the run for their lives. They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough - staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher.

Butler seems obsessed with doing rom-coms lately. This is another in a line of decent additions to the genre, but it never really strikes gold. The plot is a bit too familiar and never really brings anything new to the table. There are some good laughs, but not much that tugs on the heartstrings. Easily watchable, but also easily forgettable.

This is a very good looking Blu-ray transfer with plenty of fine detail and dimensionality. Most of the film is shot in bright daylight which lends even more to the image with nice color and depth. The soundtrack has more dynamic range then you typically get from a rom-com and features a pretty nice sense of ambiance in the surround soundstage.

Extras include a digital copy and a quirky themed feature on how to escape a bounty hunter. Sony’s MovieIQ feature is also included.

Not bad but not that great either. The characters are never that involving and though both actors are fun they never made me care that much. An easy rental at best.
