Relive every moment of Shrek's incredible journey from the hilarious beginning to the magical and heartwarming Final Chapter. All four discs feature hours of all-new extras and the brand new, limited-edition "Donkey's Christmas Shrektakular". A hilarious holiday program that is a perfect holiday treat for the whole family, "Donkey's Christmas Shrektakular" will be available for a limited time only and features all your favorite characters as they perform classic holiday songs with Shrek-ized lyrics, as well as "Shrek's Yule Log," featuring over 25 uproarious character appearances in front of a crackling virtual fireplace.

Dreamworks has been delivering some jaw dropping animation to the Blu-ray format and this box set of their crown jewel is no exception. While the animation prowess obviously changes a bit from the first film to the fourth, the quality of the HD presentation does not. Each film looks a bit more polished in fine detail and dimensionality, but this is obviously a result of improvements in their animation. But each film on its own looks breathtaking with amazing color rendition, depth and detail. My only nitpick would be a slight amount of line twitter in the first film, but it was rarely an issue. By the fourth film your jaw will be on the floor with absolutely incredible fine detail and depth. Dreamworks has really been ratcheting up their animation skills these last few years and it really shows with the last two films in this series. The Dolby TrueHD soundtracks are also outstanding though the sound design isn’t quite as engaging as some of the Pixar titles on the market. Still, dynamic range is impressive throughout with great low-end extension and plenty of surround sound activity throughout the mix. My only gripe is the musical selections, which at times took me out of the film.

Extras are included with each film and include most of the extras found on the previous DVDs and some new HD features on the characters and legacy. You also get some interactive features for the young ones like Karaoke. The fourth film also includes a new Holiday special that was quite funny. Unfortunately Dreamworks does not include DVDs or digital copies of any of the films, bummer.

If you’re like me you’ve been eagerly awaiting these films on Blu-ray. Now that the wait is over I’m overjoyed to say their presentations are everything you’d hope for. I can’t imagine not having this set in your Blu-ray collection. Highly recommended!!
