Interest High in VR, Smart Home, and Drones

Holiday shoppers are showing record interest in virtual reality (VR) headsets, smart home devices, and drones, according to the Consumer Technology Association’s recently released study of holiday purchase patterns.

One in four consumers plan to purchase smart home devices, such as thermostats and digital assistants, and one in 10 are eyeing up VR headsets (10 percent) and drones (9 percent).

“The 2016 holiday season looks to be the biggest on record for the tech sector, thanks to fresh and innovative products on the market such as wearable tech, VR headsets, drones and digital assistant devices,” said Shawn DuBravac, chief economist at CTA.

In all, nearly 170 million American holiday shoppers plan to give the gift of technology this holiday season.
