Hulu Adds NBC to Test of Live Online TV Service

Hulu has included NBC in the live online TV service it is beta-testing, according to a report in Bloomberg.

The company has secured deals with Turner, ABC, Fox, and CBS for the service, which is expected to offer more than 40 live channels and cost less than $40 a month. NBC has not yet officially committed to the service but its inclusion in the test could indicate that a deal is in the works.

Hulu is seeking to combine a Netflix-like on-demand experience with the current version of Hulu and live sports without the cost or clutter of a traditional pay-TV package, Bloomberg said. The service will include Hulu’s existing on-demand programming, which offers reruns of shows like This Is Us and Blackish,” as well as original programming such as The Path and Casual.

Hulu has not announced a launch date for the new online TV service but its online promo says “coming soon.”
