Home Media survey: 13% haven't heard of HDTV

SonyvaiohdtvWell, color me genuinely surprised. According to a recent survey conducted by Frank N. Magid Associates and reported by Home Media Magazine, 13% of people haven't even heard of high-definition television. Over 1 out of 10 Americans don't know what HDTV is. Fortunately, if you're reading this blog, you're probably among the other 9 out of 10.

Among the other data gleaned from the survey, about a third of all American households report owning an HDTV, but that number might be as high as 43% considering some households might not know their televisions' HD capabilities.According to Magic, this gap between HD awareness could come from households that purchased HDTVs to prepare for the digital transmission change, and not with any consideration for actual high-def content.
