Flaming Lips on Broadway

Our old friends the Flaming Lips have always been quick to understand how to respond to the challenges of the late 20th and early 21st century music industry: revisiting the classics, embracing technologies old and new, coordinating multiuser video experiments, and maintaining a wicked sense of humor.

Next stop for the Lips looks like it might be Broadway. The project-which'll draw from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, At War with the Mystics, and The Soft Bulletin-is being realized in collaboration with Des McAnuff, who staged the Who's Tommy. While the Great White Way has been rock-friendly lately, we're pretty sure we can count on the Flaming Lips to fold, mutilate, and spindle our expectations as usual.

Hopefully the news will tide you over 'til you can get your own life-size Gummi Wayne Coyne.
