Emotiva Audio Previews Ambitious 2016 Lineup

Emotiva Audio has previewed what the company is calling its most ambitious new product lineup ever in advance of their showing at CES 2016.

The 2016 lineup includes a new line of high-performance but lifestyle-focused audio gear called Emersa, the new XPA Gen 3 line of high-performance modular amplifiers, and the addition of passive speakers to the company's popular powered Airmotiv speaker family featuring folded-ribbon tweeters.

Described as a significant step above the Gen 2 amplifier line, the XPA Gen 3 amplifiers feature a modular design that makes it possible to add channels in the future. All share the same chassis and power supply, differential input, complementary/short-signal-path Class A/B circuitry, and Optimized Class H power topology. The power supply is a new universal switching design that automatically adapts to line voltages between 100 and 250 volts.

The models, ranging from 2 x 350 watts to 7 x 250 watts, are: XPA-2 ($999), XPA-3 ($1,119), XPA-4 ($1,399), XPA-5 ($1,599), XPA-6 ($1,799), and XPA-7 ($1,999).

The six-model Emersa line has been “engineered to balance performance with lifestyle, décor with function,” according to company founder and president Dan Laufman, who added: “Great audio performance should be experienced in the real world. It shouldn’t compromise on convenience or performance.”

All components sport a slim chassis, easy-to-read white OLED displays, and elements of the operating system developed for Emotiva’s flagship XMC-1 processor. The models are:

  • EMP-1 ($899) – A 7.1-channel aluminum-chassis preamp/processor featuring a balanced subwoofer output, Bluetooth connectivity, Dirac Live room correction, a built-in USB DAC, and an Ethernet remote control option.
  • EPA-1 ($599) – A stereo preamp featuring an intelligent graphical OLED display, four pairs of stereo line-level analog inputs, a moving-magnet phono input, a 2.1-channel mode with a fixed 80 Hz high-pass crossover, and three optional digital input options including a high quality audiophile DAC and/or Bluetooth capability.
  • EPI-1 ($799) – A stereo integrated amplifier with digital audio inputs combining all EPA-1 features (including optional digital input modules) with 2 x 100 watts of high-efficiency ICEpower Class-D amplification.
  • Emersa Amp – Three models featuring ICEpower amplification: the 2 x 150-watt EDA-2 ($599) 5 x 125-watt EDA-5 ($799), and the 7 x 125-watt EDA-7 ($999).
Emotiva is adding seven models to its Airmotiv speaker line, featuring modern styling with black faceted baffles, critically braced MDF cabinets, magnetized grilles, and folded-ribbon tweeters: T1 three-way tower ($349 each) , B1 two-way bookshelf ($299 pair), C1 three-way center-channel ($249 each), E1 two-way rear surround ($249 pair), SB1 two-way, three-channel soundbar ($499 each), S10 350-watt, 10-inch-driver subwoofer ($499), and the S12 500-watt, 12-inch-driver subwoofer ($699).

All the new Emotiva products are scheduled for availability in the first quarter of 2016. For more information, visit emotiva.com.
