Ekko Hits Crowdfunding Goal for Hub Streaming Audio System

With almost two months to spare, Sarasota, Florida-based startup ekko audio has exceeded the $100,000 crowdfunding goal it set to launch its Wi-Fi-based HUB streaming system.

As of this writing, the company has almost 600 backers who have pledged $117,000 on Kickstarter with 51 still left on the funding clock.

The company describes Hub as a first-of-its-kind audiophile-grade Wi-Fi hub that lets multiple listeners share wireless audio over earbuds, headphones, and powered speakers.

Funny how they have the iPhone earbuds in this picture, not sure many people who use those really care about sound quality.

Thanks for the shout-out, guys!

@Drewdlz, you're right. Using the earbuds in that photo was a strategic decision-- basically, we wanted to picture the most vanilla-looking earbuds that still conveyed "headphones" at a quick glance, without distracting from the unique design of the device.

Any other earbuds / cans we considered using just didn't look as simple, and so we used these.

But, all's well that ends well. After the shoot, we donated them as cats' toys.
