DWIN TransVision TV3

Dwin continues to push the envelope with its TransVision TV3, the company's third-generation Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector.

Announced in late July and demonstrated at CEDIA Expo in early September, the TV3 combines the company's state-of-the-art video signal processing with Texas Instruments' latest Mustang HD2+ chip and a Carl Zeiss zoom lens. The result is a compact, high-performance projector capable of casting an exceptionally bright and detailed 16:9 720p image.

The Zeiss lens allows placement of the projector at 1.41 to 2.1 times the screen width. Made by one of the world's most esteemed optical companies, the low-distortion prism-free Zeiss lens is claimed to yield "superior detail, deep blacks, high contrast, and vibrant colors from HDTV and all video sources."

The TransVision3 is claimed to offer greater optical projection offset than other projectors, ranging from lens level up to 40% of picture height, allowing great flexibility in positioning the projector. A lens shift mechanism ensures a keystone-free image - for example, the screen can be positioned at a comfortable viewing level with the TransVision3 projector flush-mounted to the ceiling. A 200-watt lamp insures high light output.

Bundled with the projector is the TransVision„3 Digital Video Processor, which accepts video signals from virtually all sources and delivers the video signals to the projector via a single proprietary DVI cable. The processor accepts ten video inputs (two each DVI/HDCP, RGB, S-video, component, and composite) and translates them to 720p, the projector's native rate. The processor features adaptive film mode processing for accurate reproduction of film-originated material, precision gray scale and gamma settings, and a video signal dynamic range expansion option said to improve apparent picture depth. The processor can be situated near video sources - DVD player, cable box, or satellite receiver, with the DVI cable feeding the projector up to 50' away.

Suggested list price on the combination TransVision TV3 projector/Digital Video Processor is $10,500.
