China’s LeEco Adds DTS-HD to Smartphones, TVs

DTS announced that China-based LeEco is integrating DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD into its line of 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) TVs and one of its smartphones.

In a unique twist, the LeEco’s DTS-equipped TVs and smartphone provide direct access to DTS-encoded content.

DTS-HD digital surround decoding will be included in four UHD TVs: the uMax85 ($4,999), Super 4 X43 Pro, ($649), X55 ($899), and X65 ($NA); the Le S3 ecophone will support DTS-HD Master Audio. More information on the TVs is available at Leeco.com.

In October, China-based LeEco launched its “disruptive ecosystem model in the U.S., which breaks boundaries between screens to seamlessly deliver content and services on a wide array of connected smart devices,” including smartphones and TVs.

Founded by YT Jia in 2004, LeEco operates LeTV.com, the first streaming video company in China to go public, which claims 53 million daily unique visitors who tap into its library of more than 100,000 TV episodes and 5,000 films. LeEco was recently named one of Fast Company’s 2016 Most Innovative Companies.
