Bryston Unveils ‘Lightning Fast’ Digital Music Player

Bryston today announced a digital music player/entertainment hub that supports “virtually all” digital file formats and resolutions including DSD 128 and high-resolution PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz.

A follow-up to its BDP-2, the BDP-3 features a “lightning fast” Intel processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM for speed when navigating large digital libraries, three USB 3.0 ports and five USB 2.0 ports on two separate USB buses for improved performance with attached drives, and compatibility with Streamlength-based digital platforms.

The player is available for pre-order with delivery expected in six to eight weeks. The price is $3,495.

In addition to providing a high-performance link to digital music libraries stored on external NAS or USB drives, the new player provides access to Internet radio and lossless streaming via Tidal (subscription required).

“We had an opportunity to leverage some exciting new technologies in order to improve our flagship music player,” said Bryston’s James Tanner. “Our objective was to bring added speed, enhanced performance, and flexibility to our lineup and the BDP-3 delivers resoundingly.”

The press release went on to say: “When connecting the BDP-3 to DACs using S/PDIF or AES/EBU outputs, users will enjoy the benefits of Bryston’s proprietary, Integrated Audio Device (IAD) in place of traditional third party sound cards. The resulting jitter specs are so low, they are barely detectable by even the most sophisticated measurement devices. Add DSD support, gigabit network connectivity plus world-renowned Bryston sound and build quality and you have a premium high-resolution digital music player with unmatched performance.”

The BDP-3 is set up for integration with Roon library management/playback software and covered by Bryston’s five-year warranty.

MQA support? also a little cheeky that it offers no RCA outs.. You must also buy the Preamp I guess. For this kind of $$ it should be more user friendly..

Yet another, "me too" product... what about multi-channel PCM and DSD? MQA? MLP decoding? .iso file support?
