ATI DV Wonder

Do you like making movies with a digital camcorder? Want to add some professional touches to your creations? ATI Technologies has the solution for you.

The DV Wonder is a plug-in computer card and software combination that turns your PC into a video-editing console. It enables direct connection of a digital video camcorder to the computer, as well as adding three FireWire® ports for future expansion. ATI claims no loss of resolution in the editing process, even though the DV Wonder supports transfer rates up to 400Mb/sec. The FireWire connections allow the use of multiple hard drives, should you wish to assemble an elaborate production from several recordings.

Editing features include an intuitive user interface, full support for the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 formats, and more than one hundred transitions and special effects. Digital video clips can be transferred to internal or external hard drives or recordable discs for permanent storage, or converted to video streaming formats for Internet transmission. The DV Wonder also duplicates camcorder controls on your PC, allowing you to play, pause, rewind, fast forward, or access any segment on the camcorder's tape. The DV Wonder includes stereo audio capability.

Installation of the editing suite software requires a CD-ROM drive. Other hardware requirements for the DV Wonder include a 300 MHz or faster Pentium 4/III or Celeron microprocessor, 64MB RAM, 300MB available hard disk space, 256-color DirectX® 6.0 or higher graphics board, and a sound card supported by Windows. 4GB of free disk space are required for 20 minutes of video. The DV Wonder is intended to be used with Windows 98 SE, ME, or 2000 operating systems, and is sold with a two-year warranty.
