Apple Working on Wireless, Noise-Canceling Earbuds

It looks as if Apple’s iconic white earbuds are heading for an overhaul.

The company has filed a patent for wireless earbuds that use bone conduction to improve voice communications and internal microphones and sensors for noise cancellation, according to a report from TechCrunch.

The patent filing details various multi-sensor configurations, including the use of inertial sensors to detect vocal-chord vibrations via bone and tissue conduction and internal microphones and processors that detect wind levels and external noise, the report said.

Signals from the sensors would be used to determine how to tweak audio levels to improve overall audio quality.
