Pioneer takes Blu-ray to a new level

Pioneer debuted their new flagship Blu-ray player, the BDP-09FD. This new from the ground up design is built like a tank and features an impressive analog audio section featuring the latest Wolfenson DACs. Pioneer Elite is looking at this as a best in class solution that allows customers to toss out those standalone CD and DVD players sitting on their racks.

This new design is the first stand alone Blu-ray player we’ve seen that features QDEO video processing and an impressive 14 bit color processor. The player will be BD-Live compliant right out of the box and even includes 4GB of internal built in memory. The player will ship in the fourth quarter and carry a flagship price of $2199.

Hmmm... Wolfenson DACs? I think you mean Wolfson DACs. And I thought you guys were the authority on this stuff!

Could be a contender to replace said standalones if it plays DVDA and SACD too!

It's been confirmed by none other than the BD Product Manager, Chris Walker, that it does not support SACD/DVD-A due to technical/marketing & time-to-launch reasons. But I agree, it would be great if it did!
