Sony Introduces $2,000 Home Theater Projector

Sony today introduced the VPL-HW45ES 1080p home theater projector, which comes on the heels of the VPL-HW65ES, a 2016 Sound & Vision Top Pick.

At $2,000, the VPL-HW45ES is half the price of the HW65ES and incorporates Sony’s SXRD imaging technology and Advanced Reality Creation processing, which are said to offer improved brightness, contrast, and resolution compared with its predecessor, the VPL-HW40ES.

Highlights of the projector, which measures 16 x 7 x 18.3 inches, include a 6,000-hour lamp, 1,800 lumens brightness, nine picture calibration modes, a “whisper quiet” fan with a front-facing exhaust port for installation flexibility, and a USB port for firmware updates.

Equipped with a built-in RF 3D transmitter, the VPL-HW54ES automatically recognizes 2D or 3D content and provides manual zoom and a wide lens shift range to aid setup in “any size room.”

All right, great that sony is making a 3D 1080p for under 2K now. When will we see a 3D capable 4K for under $5,000?

Native 4k under $5000 will be available in January 2017 at pro av dealers, not by SONY. Several models actually.
