PSB CustomSound CHS80 Speaker System HT Labs Measures
• CHS80 L/R Sensitivity: 84.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the CHS80 (purple trace) and CHS212 (blue trace). We didn't measure the CW383, as we lack the facilities to test the myriad configurations of in-walls. The passive loudspeaker was measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The CHS80's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.44/–3.14 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.17/–2.84 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 43 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 36 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.58 ohms at 79 Hz and a phase angle of –60.44 degrees at 47 Hz.
The CHS212's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 26 Hz and the –6dB point is at 24 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 100 Hz with the crossover-bypass switch set to off.—MJP
