Paradigm Millenia Speaker System HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures: Paradigm Millenia Speaker System

• L/C/R Sensitivity: 89 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

• Surround Sensitivity: 83 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Millenia 20 L/C/R (purple trace), UltraCube 12 subwoofer (blue trace), and Millenia ADP surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Millenia 20's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.51/–2.20 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses, in horizontal mode, measures +1.41/–2.17 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 111 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 96 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.50 ohms at 273 Hz and a phase angle of –44.06 degrees at 158 Hz.

The Millenia ADP's three-face averaged response measures +3.08/–5.31 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 99 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 87 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.85 ohms at 132 Hz and a phase angle of –71.80 degrees at 89 Hz.

The UltraCube 12's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 19 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 17 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 165 Hz with the Subwoofer Cut-Off Frequency control set to maximum.—MJP
