MOG Comes to Boxee

MOG, the streaming service that emerged victorious in our showdown with Spotify, comes to yet another venue - the Boxee Box, the digital media receiver S+V's Geoffrey Morrison thinks comes "closest to the dream of a device that lets you cut your cable/satellite tether". The company announced today that its service would be available in the Boxee App Library, where it joins Pandora, Last.fm, and Grooveshark, though its the first of the big music streamers to come to the device.

So get ready to add MOG's 320 kbps streams to your Boxee Box (support has yet to be announced for the Boxee HTPC app); there's a 14-day free trial on offer to get you acquainted with the service. The Box's optical out becomes a somewhat more compelling proposition now; hook up a reasonably nice DAC and you have something that compares favorably with dedicated network music streamers on audio quality - and lets you watch TV and movies, to boot.
