Klipsch to Unveil IP-Controlled Subwoofers

Two new IP-controlled subwoofers and a high-end passive soundbar are just a few of the many products Klipsch will showcase under the “One Stop Shop” banner when CEDIA Expo 2018 exhibits open tomorrow.

Due out this fall, the C-Series of subwoofers comprises two compact, IP-controlled models.

The C-310ASWi ($1,599) combines a front-firing 10-inch driver, two side-firing 10-inch passive radiators, and a 400-watt amplifier in an MDF enclosure measuring 14 x 13.4 x 13.8 inches. The subwoofer has a rated output of 116 dB SPL (at 35 Hz) and rated down to 25 Hz (±3 dB).

The C-308ASWi ($1,299) is a scaled down version of the C-310 featuring an 8-inch driver, two 8-inch passive radiators, and a 300-watt amplifier in an enclosure just over 11 inches square. The subwoofer has a rated output of 110 dB SPL (at 35 Hz) and is rated down to 28 Hz (±3 dB).

A built-in RJ-45 connector on both models facilitates integration with Control4, Crestron, Savant, and RTI control systems, allowing the subwoofer to automatically change input, EQ, gain, and phase settings based on the selected source or activity.

Both models are finished in gloss black and can be controlled and tuned using the free Klipsch LowControl app for iOS and Android. Automatic room-correction processing is accomplished using the microphone built into the user’s smartphone.

The most recent addition to Klipsch’s Heritage series, the Heritage Theater Bar ($2,199) features classic styling with wood-veneer top and bottom panels and an integral wall mounting system that’s only a quarter inch deep. Unlike a typical soundbar, the Theater Bar is a passive three-channel design that requires outboard power.

Each channel teams a Tractrix horn-loaded 0.75-inch titanium tweeter with two 4-inch Cerametallic woofers for a total of six woofers and three tweeters. Recommended power is 50 - 150 watts thanks to the system’s high efficiency design, which boasts a rated sensitivity of 92 dB.

Klipsch offers a standard 49.5-inch-wide version of the Theater Bar that matches the width of most 55-inch TVs, or you can order a custom width between 49.5 and 80 inches. At 6.25 inches tall and 4 inches deep, both enclosures are sealed and made of MDF. Standard finish options are walnut or satin black ash wood veneer with black knit grille cloth, or you can order one of four optional furniture-grade wood veneer finishes.
