Going the Distance—New Line Cinema (Blu-ray)

Video: 4.5/5
Audio: 4/5
Extras: 3.5/5

Erin's wry wit and unfiltered frankness charm newly single Garrett over beer, bar trivia and breakfast the next morning. Their chemistry sparks a full-fledged summer fling, but neither expects it to last once Erin heads home to San Francisco and Garrett stays behind for his job in New York City. But when six weeks of romping through the city inadvertently become meaningful, neither is sure they want it to end. And while Garret's friends, Box and Dan, joke about his pre-flight calorie-cutting and his full-time relationship with his cell phone, they don't like losing their best drinking buddy to yet another rocky romance. At the same time, Erin's high-strung, overprotective married sister, Corrine, wants to keep Erin from heading down an all-too-familiar road. But despite the opposite coasts, the nay-saying friends and family, and a few unexpected temptations, the couple just might have found something like love, and with the help of a lot of texting, sexting and late-night phone calls, they might actually go the distance.

Warner serves up a delightful presentation for this rom-com. The image quality is excellent with a nice bright image with lots of fine detail and depth. Fine film grain is preserved and the color balance has a striking quality with its natural tones and playfulness. The audio also fits the film nicely with subtle ambiance and great imaging across the main soundstage. The song selections littered throughout are also quite good.

New Line includes both a DVD copy of the film and a digital copy for on the go. The Blu-ray also serves up a lot of exclusive features that include interviews with the cast on their opinions on relationships and dating. You also get a feature commentary, behind the scenes look at the making of the film and some music videos.

This one was a lot funner than I expected and actually had quite a bit of charm. I’m sure the real life relationship between the two leads helped with the chemistry a bit. Recommended for a fun date night flick.
