Definitive Technology Mythos STS SuperTower Speaker System HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures

L/R Sensitivity: 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Surround Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Mythos STS passive L/R (purple trace), Mythos STS integral powered subwoofer (blue trace), Mythos Nine center channel (green trace), and Mythos Gem surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Mythos STS’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.57/–2.43 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 144 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 118 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.37 ohms at 114 Hz and a phase angle of –30.34 degrees at 218 Hz.

The Mythos Nine’s listening-window response measures +1.99/–1.80 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.18/–2.38 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 96 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 77 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.42 ohms at 274 Hz and a phase angle of –51.78 degrees at 150 Hz.

The Mythos Gem’s listening-window response measures +2.78/–1.42 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 164 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 139 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.64 ohms at 351 Hz and a phase angle of –43.54 degrees at 203 Hz.

The Mythos STS integral powered subwoofer’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 38 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 29 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 111 Hz using the LFE input.—MJP
