CES 2012: Aha!

When we first alerted readers to Harman’s Aha, we expected to hear a lot more about this streaming platform. As expected, Aha added fuel to its fires at CES.

Aha announced that it has added Honda and Subaru, as well as Kenwood, CBS Radio, Rhapsody, and NPR to its list of partners. Aha is a cloud-based infotainment platform that streams tens of thousands of web stations to listeners. Previously available on some Pioneer head units, and with Slacker as a major music content provider, Aha interactively plays audio through the car’s head unit and sound system, via the driver’s mobile device. Honda and Subaru will be the first OEMs to offer Aha on some MY2013 models; according to Aha, other carmakers will be coming onboard soon. Kenwood will start shipping Aha head units this spring, and Pioneer will expand its head unit offerings. CBS Radio, Rhapsody, and NPR join Slacker, Facebook, Twitter, MOG, and AOL SHOUTcast Radio. Also, new Android and updated iPhone apps will be released. Best of all, once you’re hooked up with Aha-compatible hardware, Aha is free to listeners.
