Asus' wireless Eee Keyboard coming in October

Most home theater PCs are either big bricks or tiny set-top gadgets, always tethered to your system. Next month, Asus is changing that with a system the size of a computer keyboard that wirelessly pipes video to your screen.

The Eee Keyboard is the company's newest product in their streamlined Eee series. It's a computer integrated into a keyboard, with a 5-inch touchscreen built right on it. Thanks to Ultra-wideband HDMI, Bluetooth, and Wi-fi, it can connect to your home theater (assuming it has Bluetooth and wireless HDMI features or accessories) and your home network without a single cable.

With a 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 16 or 32 GB solid state hard drive, it isn't exactly a computing workhorse. However, it should be just enough power to play your favorite media and access your favorite online video services. Add some wireless networked storage for your media library and you're good to go.

Asus hasn't yet announced a price for the Eee Keyboard, but it should retail for well under $1,000, like the company's other Eee products.
