Amex Digital claims "world's smallest" 1080p player

MP-501

At just a little smaller than 7" by 5", the Amex Digital MP-501 is the world's smallest 1080p media player. At least, that's what the company claims. The little device can play MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, and even Windows Media 9 files at 1080p resolution, making it at least one of the smallest full HD-capable players available. It reads off of SD cards or USB drives, meaning the amount of space available is limited to how much you want to spend on flash media.

The MP-501's availability in the United States is unknown, and it's only been announced in Hong Kong so far. However, the announcement said the device is U.S. patent pending, which indicates Amex Digital intends to distribute it to the states. It's priced at US$49, meaning it's a pretty inexpensive HD movie player.
