Samsung Teams with Steinway Lyngdorf to Create the ‘Ultimate’ AV Experience

Samsung has partnered with the Denmark’s Steinway Lyngdorf to deliver a home entertainment experience that draws on cutting-edge gear from each company.

The “groundbreaking system” combines The Wall, the 146-inch micro LED display Samsung previewed in January at CES 2018, and Steinway Lyngdorf’s new Model B speaker system and P100 processor.

A first-of-its-kind modular display slated for delivery in late 2018, The Wall uses a high-density micro LED array that delivers independent, self-emanating RGB pixels (three LEDs to a pixel) at much higher density than conventional LEDs, allowing the display to achieve 4K resolution without altering image quality at extreme viewing angles.

The display is pieced together using small tiles containing micro LEDs and capable of being built to any screen size. Samsung settled on a 146-inch screen size for demonstrations because the typical U.S home has a wall wide enough to accommodate a 16:9 inch screen of that size.

Samsung says its flagship display boasts superior color purity and a wider color gamut than conventional LEDs and uses a specialized ultra-low reflection technology to “ensure pure black levels.”

Steinway Lyngdorf’s Model B sound system is a smaller, more squat version of the flagship Model D dipole tower speaker, featuring an Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, 5-inch aluminum-cone midrange driver, and three 12-inch glass-fiber woofers. Finished in piano black, the system is rated down to 25 Hz and powered by the 4 x 400-watt Model A2 amplifier/crossover with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro-3D surround sound processing and sophisticated room correction provided by The Model P100 processor.

“Both products are made with one ultimate goal — to create the most realistic experience possible,” said Peter Lyngdorf, founder of Steinway Lyngdorf. “By combining a state-of-the-art visual display with a refined audio system, Samsung and Steinway Lyngdorf delivers an enhanced sense of 'being there', and no cost was spared to achieve the ultimate experience.”

I hope we'll be able to purchase these items separately(not that I'll be able to afford either one)....I'm guessing that most people interested in the Wall will either already have a sound system, or have audio interests that may or may not include Steinway Lyngdorf's system, as fantastic as it may be.
