While next-gen disc formats have made big poop at this year's CES, the wireless HDMI demo I witnessed this morning from Amimon is by far the most significant new technology I've seen here in Vegas.

Meridian has noticed something that many companies haven't- the current iPod is a video playback device. Meridian's MV-D1 dock not only allows your AV system to control the iPod and hear the music, it features component and HDMI outputs with built-in scaling up to 1080p!

Now that's a bookshelf speaker! The ICS designation indicates that this speaker is designed with in-cabinet use in mind, Snell's ICS 1030 LCR speaker is a work of art. Literally. Snell works with a talented artist and will paint any scene the customer wishes on the grill to make the speaker disappear into its environment. The speaker pictured here is obviously painted like a set of books and the effect is nothing short of striking.

Sony announced that James Bond will make his high-definition debut on March 13 when <I>Casino Royale</I> lands on Blu-ray Disc. The disc will be Sony's first to be encoded with MPEG-4/AVC compression and yet will be a dual-layer 50GB BD.

Following LG Electronics’ release of the Super Multi Blue Blu-ray/HD DVD combi player come rumblings among members of the press that the player might not be a full HD DVD player. Scuttlebut has it that the player will not be compatible with HD DVD’s HDi interactivity layer, which is the logic layer that supports the cutting edge interactivity features that run in full motion with HD video.

Polk Audio blew my mind (and my pant legs) with a stealth audio system of five in-ceiling speakers and two in-floor subs. The system had impact and articulation, and I kid you not, if you stand over the slot that load's the subs' sound into the room you'll feel a cool breeze!

Although no products were officially announced, Olevia demonstrated prototype LCDs with a 120Hz refresh rate that produced noticeably smoother motion compared to the 60Hz model next to it.
