Here’s a nicely blurry side view of JVC’s thin RPTV. This is headed for our shores, though at the moment there’s no price or even a model number. It’s about 10-inches thick.

CEATEC (See-Tech) is a yearly trade show in Tokyo, Japan. For the most part it is either a preview of what the Japanese manufacturers are going to show at CES, or what they’re hoping to come out with in the near future. Then there’s the rest of the massive building that has parts like LEDs, IR transmitters, and all the bits that are in the products you buy.

In case you missed it, here's the link to all our CEDIA coverage. Next week, I'll be at CEATEC, and I'll hopfully have some cool things to blog about while I'm at that show.

Perhaps it was because I wasn't paying attention, but I didn't expect a lot of big projector news to come out of this show. Yeah, I was wrong.

Runco unveiled several new projectors at CEDIA, all of them sporting some big brightness figures.

How big? Well in one case they’re claiming 94 foot-Lamberts. That’s LED LCD territory.

Another CEDIA behind us. Reports are saying attendance was up by 4% compared to 2011. Those of us who were there find that hard to believe, but perhaps it was the wider aisles and smaller booths that gave the appearance of fewer people.

Regardless of how many people were there, we saw a lot of cool stuff. And took a lot of pictures.

Well, I did anyway.

Kaleidescape has paired up with storied movie critic Leonard Maltin to offer their customers a specialized list of movies hand-picked by the man himself.

Even if you don’t have a Kaleidescape system, they’ve posted video interviews with Maltin on YouTube about the movies.

All the info and one of the videos after the jump.

New CEDIA, new JVC projectors. Seven, in this case. As we’ve come to expect, the new models offer a little better performance and new features at lower price point.

Starting at $3,499, and perhaps most interesting, JVC’s 4K e-shift technology will now be available at $5,000.

All the info and more images after the jump.
