Onkyo Expands Envision Cinema Line with New Soundbars

Onkyo has expanded its Envision Cinema line with two moderately priced soundbars: the two-piece LS-B50 (shown above), which includes a wireless subwoofer, and the LS-T10, an all-in-one system that doubles as a base for the TV. The new models will be available in September at the respective prices of $699 and $499.

Both models support wireless Bluetooth streaming from compatible devices and are preprogrammed with IR codes for nine major TV brands so they can be operated by an existing TV remote control. Other common features include USB ports for playing audio from flash-memory-enabled media players such as smartphones, tablets, and storage devices.

The LS-B50 soundbar has six full-range drivers and two tweeters and offloads bass to a separate wireless subwoofer, while the LS-T10 packs six full-range drivers plus an integrated subwoofer in a low profile cabinet designed to support the TV. A wall-mounting kit and IR flashers are included with the LS-B50 to expand placement options.

Both models include a six-channel digital amplifier and Onkyo’s proprietary AuraSphere digital processing. Advanced algorithms manage equalization and sound-pressure levels in real time to create a 3D sound field from PCM stereo and Dolby Digital sources, according to Onkyo. Three sound modes are provided, each optimized for different content: News, for enhanced dialogue intelligibility, Movie, and Music.
