A great collection of animated short films from our friends to the North. The collection spans a wide range of themes and genres with some great comedy and drama. The animation varies from claymation to black and white sketching and really translates well to the high def format. It is too bad we aren’t seeing more of these types of releases. I know the Pixar short film collection is one of my faves and there are PLENTY of great animated shorts out there that would really look and sound great on Blu-ray!

The presentation on this Blu-ray is quite good. The image quality at times is reference but of course varies from film to film. Some of the shorts are quite detailed with incredible use of color and depth. Others are simplistic but still hold up well. The soundtrack is limited to Dolby Digital 5.1, but there is little to complain about. None of the sound designs have quite the magnitude of some of the shorts you see from studios like Pixar and Dreamworks, but they get the job done nonetheless.

Extras include a collection of bonus shorts plus some trailers.

Animation always looks so amazing in high definition and I really hope we can start to see more and more of these type of collections hit the format. There are so many great pieces out there that are always fun to share with others looking for a quite demo!
