Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can't help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean, a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man's crazy heart.

Just a wonderful film. Bridges is always so brilliant and his performance here is just another in a long line of great performances. And Maggie is in top form. I love the intimate look at a struggling star of yesteryear in his downward spiral of alcohol and depression. I’m sure this story can relate to so many stars of yesteryear who still have the talent but lost the flame. A powerful drama with great performances from all.

Fox serves up a great looking transfer. The film’s palette is pretty simple and doesn’t try to be more than it needs to be. Contrast is solid with plenty of shadow detail and dimensionality is strong. The soundtrack is the real highlight with great music (actually sung by the actors!) and ambiance.

Extras include a brief interview with the stars and some deleted scenes. You also get a digital copy of the film for your portable device.

Full of rich performances and plenty of heart, Crazy Heart is a great drama that looks deep into the heart of a struggling star of yesteryear. Definitely recommended.
