Yamaha Announces Flagship Aventage Amp/Preamp Combo

Yamaha today announced the addition of two flagship A/V separates to its upscale Aventage line, which until now had been reserved for receivers. The CX-A5000 11.2 channel A/V preamplifier and MX-A5000 11-channel power amplifier will each carry a suggested retail price of $3,000 when they become available in August.

Highlights of the CX-A5000 preamp include high-performance ESS Technology Sabre2 Ultra DACs, Yamaha’s proprietary Cinema DSP HD3 engine, which offers 33 DSP programs and the ability to create a 360-degree sound field in systems with front and rear presence speakers, and a second-zone graphical user interface for selecting HD video and audio sources available in the main zone for playback in a second room.

Built on a highly rigid chassis and featuring a custom-built torodial transformer, the MX-A5000 power amp is rated to deliver 11 x 150 watts (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz with 0.06% THD, two channels driven) and offers balanced XLR connections in addition to gold-plated speaker terminals.

More information on the new separates is available here.

It's exciting to see Yamaha come out with some new separates! Very interested to see how the pre/amp performs as I'm soon to be in the market for one and I want to cover all options. Can't say i recall seeing an 11 channel amp in a single chassis before.
