White-ning Fast LCD Monitor

BenQ says it has a way to put some style along with performance on your desk top. (Anyone who's ever seen the top of my desk knows there is no way anyone will ever put performance or style there. I suppose other people are not in as sad a shape as I am, however.)

BenQ's FP93V is a 19-inch LCD monitor with what the company calls a "simple, refreshing, all-white polished exterior that is elegant in design." It has so much class, as a matter of fact, that the FP93V was selected for the Technology is a Girl's Best Friend (TechGirl) Diamond Product Showcase at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show. (In the old days, salespeople would have said that it scored extremely well on the "Wife Acceptance Factor" scale. Today, most members of the sales staff working male-dominated CE and computer retail sales floors will simply wink and nod while referring to it as the "spousal acceptance factor". Personally, I don't like the whole "TechGirl" thing, but maybe I'm just jealous since they don't have a "TechOldFart" showcase.)

Of course, BenQ doesn't care what you call it. They just want to sell stuff, and they think there's a market for slick, sleek, slender monitors. (And they're right.) In addition to looking good, the FP93V also includes a special base-stand that can be used as a place to stash stationery, external drives, keys, media players, gas receipts you should have turned in last week for your expense account, or even a small computer or portable DVD player.

Performance, according to BenQ, isn't trumped by style. The FP93V is equipped with D-Sub and DVI inputs. Contrast ratio is rated at 550:1, and the PDF (Pretty Dang Fast) response time is 8ms. The resolution is 1280 x 1024. The screen can be tilted +20 to -5 degrees. BenQ estimates you'll pay around $339 when you buy one through an authorized BenQ dealer.
