The Ultimate Projection Screen Transformer

One of the biggest objections to most people putting a projection screen in a non-dedicated space is having that massive screen on the wall all the time. Sure, it’s awesome when you want to watch a movie on your 100-plus-inch screen, but during the day, there it is…just sitting there…all giant blank white screen constantly reminding everyone that you have one wall of your room dominated by a giant, real-estate hogging mass of nothingness. While a motorized screen can solve the issue, these are a lot more expensive and not always possible from an installation standpoint. Design Screen showed an incredibly innovative design that lets you have the best of both worlds.

When not in use, the Design Screen HD folds into a panel that is the size and thickness of a piece of artwork. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to tell that this was anything but artwork when in its “concealed” state. The company offers a variety of art choices to choose from or you can supply your own for an even more custom touch.

When it’s movie time, the panels easily fold out and snap into place to reveal a perfectly flat, tab-tensioned screen that comes in a variety of sizes and aspect ratios. The whole process from art-to-screen is simple and takes less than a minute. The 1.0-1.1 gain screen is said to be perfect for 2D, 3D, 1080p, and even 4K video.

I suggested that the company make a modification to allow the side panel black masking to also be adjustable so you could mask the screen down for a variety of different aspect ratios—a true videophile’s dream!

While the product is real and shipping now, they don’t have a US distributor, so you’ll need to order it directly from France for now. For more information, visit design-screen.com.
