Tuesday's Warner HD DVD Releases

You wouldn't necessarily know it by looking at Amazon or bestbuy.com, but Warner Home Video is in fact releasing two more movies on HD DVD this Tuesday, May 23rd. Mel Brooks' comedy classic Blazing Saddles and the better-than-average Harrison Ford action flick The Fugitive are rolling into stores on Tuesday. Both HD DVDs are listed as having the same bonus features as the standard definition versions of each film, which in the case of Blazing Saddles is a 30th anniversary SE that's fairly loaded.

The HD DVD rollout is happening on its own speed, and apparently even some retailers aren't keeping up with Warner's releases. Some releases haven't been making the web sites at Amazon.com and bestbuy.com until a week or more after they're available. As I write this, the releases of Blazing Saddles and The Fugitive aren't available for sale or pre-order at the web sites of Amazon, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart. Kinda hard to build anticipation for titles when people don't know they're coming.

In addition to those two Warner titles, look out for four Universal releases on HD DVD this Tuesday. Bourne Supremacy, The Chronicles of Riddick, U-571 and Van Helsing will also be in stores.
