Torque Audio Ships Adjustable Bass Headphone

Torque Audio, creator of the innovative TorqueValve tunable headphone, has announced that its adjustable-bass t402v headphone is now available.

Announced earlier this year, the t402v ($400) features earpads that can be rotated to tune bass output without having to touch an equalizer.

“Adjusting any level, especially bass, with an audio player’s built-in equalizer decreases dynamic range and adds distortion,” said Yasu Yamamoto, co-founder of Torque Audio. “This has always been a concern for me, especially when switching between various genres, [so] the t402v was created to quickly boost bass levels, while maintaining clear sound quality and avoiding interference with other frequency levels.”

As shown in the diagram below, the adjustable pads provide four low-frequency settings for each ear: yellow, blue, red, and black (least to most bass).

Additional t402v features include:

  • Proprietary transducers with 1.5-inch bio-cell membrane diaphragms
  • SoftRide memory foam earpads
  • Three-way articulation for ergonomic fit
  • Spring steel reinforced headband
  • 1.4 meter reinforced cable that is mylar-shielded and detachable
  • Right-angle 3.5mm jack
  • In-line iOS remote and built-in microphone
