TiVo’s QuickMode Feature Targets Binge Watchers

TiVo has announced a software update that adds QuickMode viewing to its Roamio digital video recorders (DVRs), making it possible to binge your way through recorded shows at a brisk pace.

QuickMode, which was met with “great praise” when it debuted in the TiVo Bolt 4K entertainment system, will “help TV watchers save hundreds of hours every year by playing your recorded shows 30 percent faster with pitch-corrected audio.” TiVo says the mode works especially well for news, awards shows, and sports.

Other key features of the software update include:

  • HD channel notification – A button is provided for switching to the HD version of a channel when SD is on the screen.
  • Updated look and feel – Presents a streamlined display of channel logos in the TiVo Guide to expedite searches.
  • Fast set-up for cord cutters – Gives “non-cable subscribers” a faster way to get to streamed and recorded content with over-the-air channels scanning twice as fast as before.
