Thanksgiving in HD

Plenty of television gets watched on Thanksgiving Day—from Disney classics to nonstop college football. Until recently, not much of it was in high-definition.

Discovery HD Theater is putting an end to standard-def Turkey Day. On Thursday, November 25, the network will offer a day-long marathon of high-def family fare, with 15 hours of programming beginning at 10am Eastern Time.

Thanksgiving Day's "14 Courses of HD" will include back-to-back episodes of American Chopper, at 6pm and 7pm, and two episodes of Monster Garage at 10am and 12pm. The HD feast will include nature programming galore, such as Meerkat Adventure at 4pm, Great White Shark: Uncaged at 10pm, and Serengeti Symphony at 11pm. Dawn on the Pamir runs at 2pm, followed by Miracle of Pantanal an hour later. The Blue Realm: Giants of San Benecto shows at 5 pm.

Science and technology will get lots of exposure during the daylong event, including Concorde: The Final Flight at 1pm and Extreme Engineering: Off-shore Oil Platforms at 9pm.

HD Discovery Theater will showcase some of its most requested two-hour documentaries during " Second Helpings" on Friday, November 26. The 12-hour event begins at 1pm Eastern Time with XMA: Extreme Martial Arts, followed by Wonders of the Wild West at 3pm and The Boys of H Company at 5pm.

Giant insects get their due at 7pm in World's Biggest, Baddest Bugs and the world's biggest, baddest battleship gets some, too, in James Cameron's Expedition Bismarck at 9pm. At 11pm, fans of two-wheeled thrills will enjoy Motorcycle Mania: Jesse Rides Again.
