TCL to Sell 48-inch HDTV for $449 at Sam’s Club

Chinese consumer electronics giant TCL (The Creative Life) yesterday introduced a 48-inch 1080p LED-backlit LCD HDTV that will be sold exclusively through Sam’s Club stores nationwide and online at SamsClub.com for $449 starting in early March. The model 48FS4690 is the first in a 2014 lineup of TVs with screen sizes ranging from 23 to 55 inches due out later this spring.

Covered by a 2-year warranty, the TV is certified as Roku-Ready, supports the MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard, and has three HDMI inputs and a USB port. Quoted specs include 120Hz “Clear Motion Index” (CMI) refresh rate and dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. The TV is described as energy efficient and said to exceed Energy Star 6.0 guidelines.

Founded in 1981, TCL (The Creative Life) is the leading television brand in China and recently became the world’s third largest TV manufacturer. The company is new to the U.S., having established TCL North America in 2011.
