Stewart Filmscreen Transformed

Stewart Filmscreen is a company whose name is strongly linked with the dedicated home theater concept, but even they acknowledge that the concept is in decline. People are starting to gravitate toward viewing movies and TV in open, multiple-use living spaces, not dark, isolated viewing vaults.
The company’s new Transformer 3-roller system being shown here at CEDIA is a direct response to this trend. The Transformer incorporates three roll-down elements: a blackout shade to cover up a window or other open space; a projection screen; and a masking element to format the 2.35.1 aspect ratio screen for 16:9 content. Any screen material can be used with the Transformer, including the company’s new FireHawk LS, a lower-gain replacement for its FireHawk G3 that expands the viewing cone and reduces hotspots.
