Sirius XM Channel Swapping Irks Listeners

Now that Sirius and XM have combined, the joint service is encountering some turbulence. Listeners are irked that familiar channel lineups are changing.

When the two companies merged, they promised the Federal Communications Commission that the new service would offer as many channels as the old ones. Sirius XM has kept that promise. But while listeners are getting the same number of channels, they're not getting the same channels.

Therefore NBA games have moved from the Sirius network to the still-separate XM network. And Bob Dylan's XM show is now accessible to Sirius listeners. More information about the programming changes are available in this press release.

At this point you're probably wondering why Sirius XM doesn't release a new radio that will access both networks. The company promised to do just that by next May. So those unhappy subscribers won't be unhappy for long.
