SIM2+Entertainment Experience: Better Than BD

This is just so cool. SIM2 makes gorgeous high-end home-theater projectors, with cabinets that look like art. They're Italian. Great-looking Euro-art. But that's not even the cool part. The 1080p three-chip DLP projector is capable of home theater images of up to 1920 x 1080p.

Still not the cool part.

SIM2 is partnering with Entertainment Experience, LLC to make this the ultimate home theater package. The Digital Entertainment Solution is the C3X projector bundled with a Digital Entertainment Center that's the hardware and software heart of the machine. This is what manages the "Beyond HD" content. What would that be?

Instead of getting DVDs delivered to your home, imagine reference quality DCI-standard movies on a hard disc drive. Weekly updates that can easily be placed in the Digital Entertainment Center. These movies take up about 40-50GB of space on the HDD using the DCI color standards. They have more than 4,000 major titles that can be delivered directly to your home. The movies, supplied by Video Giants, will be better than Blu-ray, and some will be delivered before their official release on DVD and Blu-ray. Prices for each title will be around $40.00.

They're promising it will be simple to insert the HDD, chose titles from an on-screen display, and start enjoying movies that are promised to be better than what's available at some cinemas.

The price for the bundle isn't available yet, but the C3X DLP projector alone retails for $31,995. Doubt it's gonna get much cheaper with the HDD. Would someone buy one so I can check it out? I'll bring the popcorn. -Leslie Shapiro
