Samsung LCDs

Samsung's booth was awash in new LCD TVs—no less than eight lines of slim LED edge-lit sets and six lines of conventional CCFL models. As many have expected, there are no new LED backlit sets, which Samsung claims are too expensive and power hungry for the current consumer marketplace.

Of particular note is the top-of-the-line C9000, a super-slim beauty with a cool new color-touchscreen remote that resembles an iPhone. The only drawback is its shiny metal bezel, which could be distracting while watching TV. The C9000, C8000, and C7000 lines all operate at 240Hz—real 240Hz, not 120Hz with backlight scanning—and they are 3D capable. Online content is available in all three of these lines as well as the C6800 and C6500, and wireless DLNA access extends down to the C6300 and C5000. Prices were not revealed, and availability was specified as the second half of the year.
