RoxioNow Embraces DTS

Sonic Solutions' RoxioNow, which supplies the technology underlying Best Buy's CinemaNow and Blockbuster's online service, will add DTS to its platform.

This will allow consumers who stream or download content from those services to enjoy DTS 5.1 surround (though apparently not the new lossless DTS-HD Master Audio, a feature of many Blu-ray releases). Someone on the Polk message board claims that Netflix is testing DTS online as well.

If you've been wondering why Samsung has added DTS to its TV line, wonder no more. After all, not everyone streaming a movie may be willing to operate an a/v receiver.
