Projection: 2.5 million 3D HDTVs sold in 2010

3D-capable HDTVs are going to sell like hotcakes that come with little glasses, according to projections recently published by DisplaySearch. The market research company expects to see 2.5 million 3D HDTVs sold in 2010, and for a whopping 27 million to sell in 2013.

Of course, this doesn't mean that 25 million more people will buy HDTVs in 2013; it means that 3D will become a more common feature by then. DisplaySearch projects that 27% of all flat-panel HDTVs and a whopping 44% of plasma screens will be 3D-capable by 2013. Currently, less than 5% of all HDTVs currently on the market can display 3D.
