Pioneer Adds 2 Budget AV Receivers to 2016 Lineup

Pioneer today announced the addition of two AV receivers to its 2016 lineup: the 7.2-channel VSX-1131 ($600) and 5.2-channel VSX-831 ($450).

Rated to deliver 100 watts/channel (two channels driven), highlights of the 7.2-channel VSX-1131 include an AKM 384kHz/32bit DAC (AK4458), Dolby Atmos surround processing, and support for 4K/60p/4:4:4 24-bit video with HDCP 2.2 and 192kHz/24-bit audio in FLAC, WAV, AIFF, Apple lossless, DSD (2.8/5.6MHz), and Dolby TrueHD formats; DTS:X processing will be available via a firmware update scheduled for this fall. The VSX-831 has 5.2 channels and is rated to deliver 80 watts/channel (two channels driven).

Both models feature Pioneer’s Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration (MCACC) system—which automatically equalizes frequency response based on room acoustics and compensates for differences in speaker size, level and distance—and are equipped with AirPlay, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity. Pioneer said support for GoogleCast and FireConnect will be available via a future firmware update. Resident music apps include Pandora and Spotify with TuneIn and Tidal music streaming services coming via a future firmware update. Deezer is also part of the future firmware update but only in Canada.
