Paradigm Monitor 11 Speaker System Test Bench

L/R Sensitivity: 89.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Center Sensitivity: 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Surround Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Monitor 11 L/R (purple trace), Monitor Sub 12 subwoofer (blue trace), Monitor Center 3 center channel (green trace), and Mini Monitor surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Monitor 11’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.58/.–2.52 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 43 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 38 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.85 ohms at 132 Hz and a phase angle of –65.42 degrees at 84 Hz.

The Monitor Center 3’s listening-window response measures +3.71/–4.46 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +4.17/–4.35 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 58 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 52 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.12 ohms at 141 Hz and a phase angle of –61.70 degrees at 96 Hz.

The Mini Monitor’s listening-window response measures +2.48/–1.79 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 66 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 52 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.52 ohms at 188 Hz and a phase angle of –56.47 degrees at 98 Hz.

The Monitor Sub 12’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 25 Hz and the –6dB point is at 21 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 128 Hz with the Cut-Off Frequency control set to maximum.—MJP

Thanks for the great review. Been listening to speakers locally. I like the Paradigm Monitor 11 best so far. Also been reading the great reviews of the Aperion Verus Grands. How do these two compare head to head. I will certainly use them for movies but my primary concern is music. I listen to primarily rock.

Unfortunately, we're not in a position to pass judgement on this question since have not had the opportunity to do a head-to-head listening test that pits the Paradigm Monitor 11s against the Aperion Versus Grands.

How far was your left speaker from the sidewall?
